In Launceston Central, I'm up against a Conservative from Whitstone and a Labour candidate from the other end of town. Despite being in a Coalition Government there are issues on which the Liberal Democrats remain apart from the two main parties on a point of principle and, I would argue leading the agenda. The tutor will be well-known local singer Sheena Wellington. The class is open to all ages and no knowledge of musical notation is required. Class fees are £5 (£3 concessions). Today's Western Mail reports that a doctors' leader has launched a blistering attack on the state of the NHS in Wales, warning of hospital conditions so bad that he wouldn't want to be a patient: Dr Dai Samuel, chair of the British Medical Association's Welsh Junior Doctors Committee, painted a bleak picture of the "horrific" conditions currently faced by doctors in hospitals across the nation, saying they were only able to provide "substandard" care which is compromising patient safety. On behalf of residents, I recently raised with the City Council's Road Maintenance Partnership the state of the road surface at the Riverside Drive/Avenue roundabout, near to the Riverside Inn. I have received the following response: "There are currently no proposals to carry out resurfacing works at the Riverside Avenue/ Riverside Drive roundabout. However the Road Maintenance Partnership inspector has raised an order for the repair of the potholes with a timescale for repair of twenty eight days or sooner.
