"Millions of teenagers would lose the freedom to enjoy games and social interaction in the name of 'safety'. Even complaining on family WhatsApp would be impossible, as they would be banned from that too. Such a restriction would severely impact not just young people's ability to play games or socialise, but also access support services, or engage in or discuss political content or ideas."James Baker argues that Liberal Democrats should not support Baroness Benjamin's amendments to the Children's Wellbeing and Schools Bill. Sophia Alexandra Hall explains why care leavers need better access to childhood records: "Among the papers was a ...

The Nottingham Post wins our Headline of the Day Award. Cllr Hollis, the deputy leader of Ashfield District Council, is a Zadroznyite - a member of the Ashfield Independents, whose leader Jason Zadrozny almost won the Ashfield constituency for the Liberal Democrats at the 2010 general election.
Every month the Liverpool Echo produces a photo gallery of those who have been jailed in Liverpool Crown Court. To see what I could learn about the racial profile of those that committed crimes I looked at one of these monthly albums of pictures and chose at random June this year. In this month 38 pictures were shown of 38 offenders. Of these three came from none white backgrounds. This represents 7.9% of those jailed. We specifically wanted to see a way to display when the civic amenity site is unexpectantly closed following complaints from residents that a lack of such signage meant that they drove right up Wright Avenue only to find the site closed and then have to do a three point turn on the narrow road. This has been built into the new signs - the 'before' and 'after' signs are shown below :
The Independent reports that Keir Starmer has called for a police crackdown on antisemitic chanting at demonstrations, including pro-Palestine marches, saying the government "won't tolerate" it. His stance comes following the appalling attack by two gunmen on a Hanukkah celebration at Bondi Beach in Australia on Sunday, killing 15 people and injuring a further twenty-seven: The prime minister's official spokesperson said that while "free speech is an important right in this country, that can't extend to inciting hatred or harassing others", saying the police will use their powers "more robustly" to tackle the proliferation of antisemitism. Starmer and the Chief ...
