Second paragraph of third chapter:The fleet also served as transportation. As we soon learned, the geographic distribution of the Gemini and Apollo contractors was well balanced. In the Los Angeles area was North American Rockwell, which made the Apollo command module and parts of the giant Saturn V. In northern California, Lockheed built the Agena, the Gemini's target vehicle and auxiliary propulsion engine. St. Louis was home to McDonnell, which built the Gemini spacecraft, while its Titan II booster was assembled in Baltimore. NASA's center at Huntsville, Alabama, was responsible for the Apollo boosters, the Saturn IB and the Saturn ...

[IMG: Operation Stack / lorries] Received an interesting report from Folkestone & Hythe District Council earlier about HGV parking enforcement in the district over the last 6 months, and the likely direction of travel over coming months. I've asked and been told there is no reason I can't share it, so am! Thanks to F&HDC's Fred Miller for the report and underlying work. I think it gives an interesting picture of the scale of the issue locally, but also that there really does need to be safe and legal places for HGV drivers to stop. Without those, HGV drivers are ...

The Liberal Democrats are calling on the Government to keep masks mandatory on public transport after 19th July. Munira Wilson MP, Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for Health, believes it would be a small price worth paying to protect others: Many people, especially the vulnerable, do not yet feel confident enough to travel on crowded public transport. There are millions who have still not been double jabbed, and are therefore at greater risk of both becoming ill themselves and spreading the virus to others. Keeping masks mandatory on public transport which can often become overcrowded is the right thing to do. We ...

The Building Safety Bill, which is being published today, is already attracting the ire of Tory backbenchers. They are threatening to vote against the Bill, unless it includes safeguards to ensure leaseholders cannot be billed for the colossal building fire and safety remediation costs post-Grenfell. The Mirror says that more than four years on from the Grenfell tragedy thousands of home-owners are still facing stress and financial ruin because they live in unsafe buildings which they are unable to sell: Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick has confirmed they will be given double the amount of time to go after builders and ...

Richard Huffer, Shropshire Councillor for Clee and myself, joined Ludlow MP Philip Dunne and Harriet Baldwin, MP for West Worcestershire, along with representatives from south of the Teme to discuss what might becalled the "Burford Question". Burford is planned to expand by around 170 homes. Tenbury is growing also. That's putting pressure on services in Tenbury, including GPs and schools. In this post, Richard Huffer talks about the problem that are mounting up and what the solutions might be. Should SC transfer money from ...

I have recently assisted with a couple of issues in Paton's Lane : + Last week an elderly resident slipped on grit on the pavement near to the Paton's Lane Abertay Housing Association retirement housing. She was thankfully not badly hurt but I asked the council's environment management to have the pavement swept and the grit removed. + The pathway that runs from towards the top of Paton's Lane to Perth Road, slightly west of the main road junction, is well used by residents but is overgrown and has litter in it. Again I asked the City Council to have ...
