It is wonderful that the "civic tradition" of children from the Polish Saturday School in Welwyn Garden City continues! Last weekend, a group of children and a few members of staff visited the Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council. Children had another opportunity to visit the Council Chamber, meet the Leader of the Council, newly elected Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Welwyn Hatfield. Each time, our visits are interesting, engaging and very informative. Children listen attentively and they had a chance to learn to ask a number of questions: What is the best part of being a Councillor? When did you start ...

The Independent reports that the chair of the committee on standards in public life has urged the government to close a loophole allowing firms to make political donations from profits made abroad, using shell companies. Lord Evans wants the secrecy surrounding who is funding online campaigns and "shadowy" unincorporated associations lifted. People make huge efforts at Christmas and major national occasions. At the moment, the place is consumed with football fever and many houses are flying England flags of all shapes and sizes. Football truly is coming home in Oakley ward. That's why today I delivered a letter of thanks to every home displaying an England flag. I wanted to thank people because walking around Oakley reminded me of some of my most ...

In the past couple of weeks, I have had many complaints about weed growth at road edges in numerous streets in the West End - Peddie Street and Hillcrest Road being two examples amongst many. I contacted our local environment manager about this and have been advised as follows : "The street spraying in the West End has not started yet. For various reasons the start of the operation had been delayed and then the quad operator had to self isolate. We should be able to start some time this week, weather permitting, and I should have another quad freed ...
